Misty Chandler

Misty Chandler serves as Assistant Vice Provost of Academic Success within Academic Affairs.  Misty leads the Success Initiatives team which includes these service units: Military-Affiliated Student Center, Academic Success Operations and Technology, Equity and Success Inititaives, and Academic Success Navigators.  In this role, Misty leads student success technology efforts and is responsible for maintaining partnerships with KU IT and SIS. Equity and Success Initiatives is a cross-functional team that serves all Jayhawks while prioritizing first-generation, pell-eligible, and rural students through programs like Hawk Link, Native American Initiatives and related scholarly programs. Similarly, the work in the Military Affiliated Student Center creates a meaningful service and support hub for students who served, who are serving or who are military dependents and spouses.  Academic Success Navigators support student success through personalized concierge-level support.  Misty works to strengthen and build campus initiatives focused on the transition and retention of KU students, working closely with Enrollment Management, Graduate Studies, and academic units regarding established enrollment goals for the University. One of the areas of focus for the Success Initiatives team is improving the support available to transfer, commuter, online, graduate and adult learners. 

Misty earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Master of Education in Educational Administration both from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  Her career has spanned multiple institutions and institution types with roles focused on student access and success including student housing, admissions, campus life and leadership, enrollment management, registrar, student services, assistant dean of the School of Professional Studies, associate dean of students and executive director of student success initiatives.
