KU Advising Network
The KU Advising Network (KUAN) is comprised of academic advisors and student service professionals from across the university. The KUAN fosters opportunities for professional growth, personal development, and community building. The KUAN also provides a forum for discussion and the exchange of ideas, resources, best practices, and information regarding academic advising within the campus community.
The purpose of the KUAN is to foster a community among academic advisors and student service professionals while at the same time providing opportunities for professional development and sharing of ideas.
KUAN Values
Consider the needs of individuals in order to support engagement within the advising community
Promote efficient and effective working relationships with campus partners and within the advising community
Facilitate the sharing of ideas, initiatives, and information inside the academic advising community while strengthening the awareness of academic advising across campus
Develop a community of academic advisors through connections, relationships, and networks
Provide support and initiatives that are inclusive of multiple identities and perspectives
Encourage creative thinking, discovery, and intentionality to provide an excellent academic advising experience for students
Showcase the value the advising profession brings to the campus community through the recognition of academic advisors for their initiatives, ideas, service, expertise, and contribution to student success
Become A KUAN Member
The KU Advising Network is open to all individuals employed at the University of Kansas. This includes, but is not limited to, academic advisors, faculty members, administrators, counselors, and others whose interests and work are related to academic advising. While the KUAN focuses primarily on those who support and advise undergraduate students, the network is open to those who work with other populations including graduate and professional students.
Joining is easy! Send an email to kuan@ku.edu. By becoming a general member of the KUAN, you are subscribing to the newsletter and will be added to the KUAN listserv to receive updates and event invites.
Why should I join?
In addition to being added to the newsletter mailing list and KUAN listserv, you will gain access to the KU Advising Network site in Microsoft Teams. In this site, you will find:
