KUAN President

Karen Cook

Karen serves as the Advising Lead Analyst in Student Information Systems and as the President of KUAN for the 2019-2020 academic year. In her eight years at KU, Karen has worked in advising support and as an academic advisor. Karen served as chair of the KUAN Assessment committee for the last two years, and in that role, has worked with the committee to organize brown bags, workshops, and presentations. Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and English, and her Master of Science in Higher Education Administration here at KU.  In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, reading (preferably with her cats), and hanging out with her horse.

Amy Schmidt

Amy serves as an Academic Advisor in the School of Business and as the KUAN as President-Elect for the 2019-2020 academic year. Amy is primarily responsible for the KUdos initiative, the KUAN newsletter and other general KUAN communications. Amy started at KU in 2015 with the College Advising & Student Services office and has been a member of the KUAN since 2016. Before coming to KU, Amy graduated from Missouri State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Masters in Communication. In her free time, she likes to run, read, travel, and play with her two dachshunds: Tilley and Howie.
